About Me

IMG_1489My name is Melody and this is the place where I make fun of my children and curse a lot.

I am a freelance writer and editor, and that is how I support my book, food, travel and geeky habits. Ten is my Doctor, and I am certain that my dishwasher was meant to sound like the TARDIS..

I live in a quiet suburb of St. Louis, which is, admittedly, very noncommittal. (Seriously, you’re either City Mac or Country Mac. Suburban Mac would just complain about the cost of grass seed and the neighbors not raking their leaves.)

Our little nuclear unit is made up of my dear husband, The Mister, our little drama-queen daughter Boogie, and our second final human contribution to society, The Sequel. And you can thank me later for quitting while I’m ahead.

I am now in the thick of being a momma, and spend many days fantasizing about the wonder that was once my boobs, and writing open letters to exhausted celebrities. In between asking my children to stop licking the handles on bathroom stalls and empathizing with Valium-moms, I sometimes write words on here that I think are much funnier than my husband does.

Before I got myself knocked-up I grew up in another far-flung suburb of St. Louis listening to David Bowie (I will bet a dollar I am his biggest fan. Ever.), and shamefully I admit to telling people that Nirvana changed my life. See, I once likes this one band, you probably heard of ages ago. Now I have rely on my babysitters to name drop bands and allow me to stalk their playlists on Spotify, as you do when you get this old.

I enjoy peeing in private, showering on a daily basis, and buying yoga pants and wine at the same store. Yes, the glamor is such that you must avert your eyes.
