My name is Melody and I am a blogoholic. I am a freelance writer and interactive media strategist, the founder and managing editor of Girls Guide to the Galaxy, and a partner and lifestyles editor at STLFamilyLife.com, which suits me just fine at this juncture.
I live in St. Louis with my dog, Sasha, my little drama-queen baby Boogie, and my dear husband, The Mister. We are a typical thirty-something couple: working, playing, and trying to figure out why pizza has gotten so expensive.
We just made first human contribution to society in May 2010, and though we didn’t cry tears of joy during our first ultrasound we still think we are going to be alright parents. Well… at least we aren’t going to sell our child to a band of nomads or anything (if we can’t help it), so that has to be at least a few points in our favor… right?
I am now embarking on the adventures of becoming momma, but before I got myself knocked-up I grew up in a far-flung suburb of St. Louis listening to David Bowie (and will bet a dollar I am the biggest fan evah!) and grunge rock. I dyed my hair blue and wore flannel for a stint in high school, and left soccer practice to shop at the Gap during another. Such were the ’90’s.
During college I was a DJ because I am the only one in my family with ZERO musical talent and, thus, can’t be in a band. Instead, I got paid for a while to play CD’s made by people far more talented than I am, and worked on my college paper as the Entertainment Editor interviewing said people. If I ever think of grounding my kid for piercings, listening to that damned rock and roll music, or unnatural hair colors I would be a hypocrite, and fully expect to have high-heeled shoes thrown at me rapid fire in retribution.
Gah… I am really not qualified for this, am I?
Here I write about all manners of domesticity at Chez Meiners, from parenting, to cooking, to party planning, to the potentially explosive art and craft projects I embark upon while decorating our abode. I love that kind of stuff.
